Learning paths are a selection of courses grouped into blocks. They allow Learners to progress through and master specific subjects. Similar to Curricula, learning paths allow you to enroll multiple Learners in multiple courses at once, saving you valuable time.
Learning paths consist of blocks, with each block consisting of one or more courses in different levels. The Learner needs to complete each block in sequence. Each block can be sequential or free, meaning that Learners will need to complete any one of the available courses in each level of a block (sequential) or all courses in order to proceed to the next block.
Each block can have
its own milestone, which is the suggested timeframe in which the Learner should
complete each block and different course levels. Completing all blocks
completes the learning path.
3. Add an image (3), “Name” (4), “Description” (5),
and select a “Category” (6) for your learning path and proceed to
the first block.
4. Add a “block name” (7) and “description” (8), and set the suggested milestone (9) for this block which can be either a specific date or a number of days after the learner has been enrolled in the learning path.
5. Select if you want the block to be Sequential or not (10) and then start adding courses (11).
6. If this is a sequential block, then you can add different course levels (12).
7. When done, proceed with adding a new block by clicking “Insert Block” (13) and follow steps 4-6. Add as many blocks as you like.
8. When you are ready, click “Save” (14) to create the learning path.
9. You can edit a learning path by clicking on the edit icon (15).
Enrolling a Learner in the learning path will automatically enroll them in all courses in the learning path. The Learner will not be able to access and complete any course in the path at will, but instead they will need to follow the designed learning path to complete it. If the Learner is already enrolled to the course and already made progress, this will be reflected in the learning path too. If after creating the learning path you add a few courses in each block, the status of learners in the learning path will remain the same, if you want it to be updated and reflect the new course, you need to use the “Recalculate status” (5) which will update the learner’s status based on the current course completions.
Accessing the learning path will show the different blocks (2) and levels (3) in the learning path, as well as the suggested milestone (4).
Completing a course in the learning path will prompt you to go back to the learning path (5).
Depending on the block and if it's sequential or not, completing a course will
complete the level and allow the Learner to proceed to the next level (6).
If the block is not sequential, Learners assigned to this learning path will need to complete all courses in each block. If the block is sequential, Learners will need to complete all levels to proceed to the next block. As mentioned above, they need to complete all blocks to complete the learning path.
