How to Revoke a User Certificate

How to Revoke a User Certificate

One of the LMS' features includes being able to revoke a certificate that was previously issued to a user. This article will detail the steps an administrator can take to revoke a certificate.

Login to your administrator account and click on the "Users" module (1).

To find a specific user, use the filter bar located at the bottom left (1). Once you've located the user whose certificate you want to revoke, click on their name to open their profile (2).

While viewing the user's profile, you'll see a menu bar with different categories. Click on the 'Certificates' category to view all the certificates the user has received, along with related information (1).

In the 'Operations' column, you'll see an icon of a ribbon split in half. This is the "Revoke Certificate" button (1). Clicking it will allow you to revoke the associated certificate.

After clicking the button, you'll be asked to confirm if you want to revoke the certificate. Clicking the "'Revoke" button will finalize the decision (1). Please note that once a certificate is revoked, it cannot be re-awarded unless the user re-enrolls and completes the course again.

The certificate has now been officially revoked. A red "Expired" tag will appear next to the certificate name, indicating that it has either expired or, in this case, been revoked (1). Additionally, the revocation date will be displayed in the "Revoke Date" column next to the corresponding certificate (2).

Another way to go about revoking a certificate would be through clicking on the "Certificates" module on the LMS homepage (1)

Navigate to the "Users" category to view a complete list of users who have received certificates (1). Use the filter bar at the bottom left to find the specific user you're looking for (2). Once you've located the user, click the "Revoke" button under the 'Operations' column for the corresponding certificate (3)

Please note that with this method, you'll also be prompted to confirm the certificate revocation.
